Black Butte Ranch is a desirable place to vacation, we want to make sure your stay is relaxing and enjoyable!

What is the access fee for Black Butte Ranch?

Currently it is $9 per person/per night. Starting January 1 2024, Black Butte Ranch has asked property management companies to take a percentage of your nightly total and add it as an access fee that they then collect from those companies. When you arrive to the welcome center for your stay, you will only have to register your car. Everything will be paid through the reservation. We do not have any say or control over this as the ranch has set the policy and we are to follow it.

Do you only have rental properties at Black Butte Ranch?

Since 1973 our focus has been Black Butte Ranch properties only. We know the Ranch and it is a very special place.

 

Where is the closest airport?
The Redmond Airport, Roberts Field, is located 30 miles East of Black Butte Ranch in Redmond, Oregon is the closest commercial airport. Private planes can use the Sisters airport, which is only 8 miles from the Ranch.

 

Are dogs allowed?
Since all our homes are privately owned, the decision is up to each homeowner. You will find many of the homes do allow dogs, but sorry no cats.A registration fee is required plus $20 more per night plus tax. You will also be required to sign a registration form regarding the dog(s) you are bringing.

 

Black Butte Ranch requires you to keep your dog under immediate voice command or on a leash and quiet at all times. Black Butte is empowered to take appropriate steps, including confinement of the animal if deemed necessary to maintain the tranquil environment of the Ranch. 

 

Safety has become a growing concern. What about Black Butte Ranch?
Black Butte Ranch is a gated community with an on-site police department and on-site fire department with paramedics. All guests are required to register. Safety has never been an issue, and we plan to keep it that way. All our vacation homes are equipped with smoke/carbon monoxide detectors plus a box with safety materials in case of outages, etc.

 

Are Guests Allowed to Use the Pools and How Many are Available.

Useof the swimming pools is limited to Black Butte ranch owners and their guests, including registered rental guests. Specific rules for conduct are posted in the pool buildings.


There are six swimming pools in various areas around the Ranch, including two large recreation complexes. The Glaze Meadow Complex also includes a 25-meter indoor pool which is open all year. Most houses are within walking distance or a short bike ride of one of the major recreation areas at Glaze Meadow or the Lodge or one of the three smaller pools..

 

Can I bring my motorcycle?
Two-wheeled motor vehicles, including motorcycles, are not allowed within the gated portion of the Ranch.

 

Is Black Butte Ranch “bike friendly’?

Absolutely! There are 18 miles of paved bike trails on the Ranch. The Glaze Meadow Sports Shop has bikes for all ages to rent. In addition, the area around the Ranch has numerous single-track mountain bike trails. All cyclists and pedestrians are to stay on the bike paths. No skateboards, roller blades or roller devices are allowed on paths or roadways.  More Information.

 

Are there horses to rent?
The stable at the ranch offers guided trail rides.

 

How close are the ski areas?
Hoodoo is located 15 miles west of the Ranch. For avid skiers there Mt Bachelor Ski Area is 54 miles to the South.

 

Which mountains can you see from the Ranch?
There are views of the Three Sisters, Mt Washington, Three Finger Jack and Mt Jefferson from various locations on the Ranch.

 

How’s the fishing?
Fly fishing is allowed on Lake Phalarope in front of the lodge and is a perfect place to learn fly casting. More experienced fishermen (and fisherwomen) will enjoy the challenge of the Metolius River, known for its rainbows and bull trout. In addition, there are several lakes within 20 miles. Can I camp at Black Butte Ranch?

Camping is expressly prohibited within the boundaries of Black Butte Ranch, including the use of tents, trailers and recreational vehicles for sleeping purposes.

 

Are fireworks allowed?
The use of fireworks of any kind, including sparklers is strictly prohibited.
